Parents
Being a parent, especially the parent of an athlete, is not an easy thing to be! From starting out at about 5-6 years old to the completion of a high school career, there will be so many ups and downs, successes and failures, happiness and sadness and other emotions that both you and your children will experience. After being a player, parent and coach for most of my life and experiencing most every situation, both good and bad from all three perspectives, I decided to try and help all three groups as much as I can. I have read, researched, and lived this life, and I believe I have come up with a complete and common sense approach to the many situations that can and will arise however long that journey will last.
Your children will only have one chance to be an athlete, whether it be one year, fifteen years or anything in between. They’ll have one chance to create memories and friendships, learn skills and characteristics that will last a lifetime and learn valuable lessons not taught in a school classroom.
This booklet, “The Athletic Trinity: Parents, Players & Coaches – Can they Co-exist?” cannot guarantee that everyone’s experiences will be perfect in this journey, but the ideas and techniques can be a tremendous help along the way. It will help you to give your children a positive experience whether they are the most talented one on the team, an all-star, fulltime starter or one who is not super talented, gets a little playing time or none at all.
My third booklet, “Make It Easy”, is a guide for your children as they continue their journey through academics, athletics, and forming relationships with the most important people in their lives. The information can also be used, more importantly, after their playing days are over. Thanks for visiting the website, and take a little time and check out what it has to offer.
