600+ Little Things That Make a Big Difference For Boys' and Girls' Basketball Coaches
This is a compilation of 600 + “little things” that will make LIFE EASIER for coaches while making PLAYERS BETTER for your basketball program. There are no X’s and O’s here, but ideas that cover just about every aspect of a good basketball program. The categories start with basketball related areas including pre-game, halftime, post- game, practice sessions, warm-ups, substitutions, referees, time outs, conditioning, uniforms/practice gear, and other parts of the game. Situations off the court are addressed such as parents, teachers, administrators, alumni, game nights, managers, assistant coaches, referees and the scorer’s table.
In all there are 27 categories and a “miscellaneous” one that is the largest and covers many things not offered in the other areas. The contributors are made up of the top coaches in the state of Louisiana and their combined total number of wins are over 11,000 and 49 state championships! The book is edited by Coach Jerry Hernandez who states, “Had I had this book 45 years ago, there is no doubt I would have been a much better coach and won more games in my years in this profession! In addition, my blood pressure would have been much lower as well!”
From "Foreword"
by Coach Tim Floyd
“I retired from coaching at age 64 in 2017 with no regrets until after reading Coach Hernandez’s book…..The ideas and strategies presented will not only help the newer coaches, but the gray-haired veterans as well. Coaches have to evolve and stay current.”
