Dear Heads of School, Principals, Athletic Directors and Coaches
One of the most challenging aspects for schools that offer athletic programs is balancing the needs and interests of parents, players, and coaches. The dynamics and strained relationships that can exist among these three constituencies often detract meaningfully from the potential positive experience of athletics. Through my 45 years as a coach and athletic director at both the high school and collegiate levels, I have developed a framework with specific guidelines that will help parents, players, and coaches navigate the challenges that naturally arise in athletics. The fundamental question is:
The Athletic Trinity: Parents, Players & Coaches – Can They Co-exist?
In order for athletic teams to be successful, all three constituencies need to develop trust and understand each other. I offer a parent seminar that is a guide for this group to work together cohesively and cooperatively. The presentation will leave parents with approaches and techniques to assist them and their child.
In addition to the seminar, I am offering an informational book that can be purchased at a nominal cost for distribution to the parents of student athletes as an alternative or an enhancement to the seminar. The presentation and book are based on research and input from many players, coaches, parents and my experiences with my own children during my 45 years as a coach and athletic director. Often it is productive for parents to hear some realistic facts from someone not affiliated with your school. Contact me for more information or go to my website www.sportseducationexperience.com and together we can formulate the procedure for you to take advantage of this very unique opportunity.
Sincerely,
Jerry Hernandez – Athletic Concepts & Solutions
